Fun on Foot in America's Cities
Discovery Park to Downtown
Do a loop through Seattle’s Discovery Park, with its attractive nature trails,
and then follow the shore of Puget Sound, through Elliott Bay Park and Myrtle
Edwards Park back to downtown.  There are outstanding views of the city, its
docks, its surrounds, and Puget Sound, on the way.  On arriving downtown,
follow the waterfront to the aquarium and Pike Place Market. Great running,
jogging, or walking throughout!

Green Lake and Fremont
Do a loop of attractive Green Lake [map], Seattle’s most popular on-foot
route.  Connect via Woodland Park and street sidewalks to Fremont
[map],
one of Seattle’s most lively restaurant, shop-browsing, and entertainment
areas.  There are some excellent wind-down places here.  You can catch a
bus back downtown or, if you want to do another three-to-four miles on-foot,
walk or run via the western edge of Lake Union.

The Arboretum and Lake Washington
Follow the Arboretum Waterfront Trail through unique wetlands terrain, pass
through the impressive Washington Park Arboretum
[map], and then connect
with the shore of Lake Washington.  This is an extremely attractive route,
with minimal intrusions from automobile or bicycle traffic.

Burke-Gilman Trail to Ballard
Enjoy a quality urban trail, traverse the University of Washington campus
[map]
, follow the north shore of Lake Union and the Lake Washington Ship
Canal, and see popular Gas Works Park.  End in the historic and character-
filled Ballard area
[map], handy to attractions like the Chittenden Locks and
Fish Ladder.
