Fun on Foot in America's Cities
Center City Schuylkill River Loop
A pleasant short running loop from and back to downtown Philadelphia
hotels.  Run or walk by several museums, including the Rodin Museum and
Museum of Art.  Experience a nice new paved trail along the Schuylkill River
in Center City, excellent for running, jogging, or walking.  Traverse the
popular Rittenhouse Square District
[map].

Schuylkill River to Manayunk
Experience popular Fairmount Park along the Schuylkill River.  Run or walk
by several Philadelphia sights, including the Rodin Museum, Museum of Art,
Boathouse Row, Fairmount Water Works, and Lincoln statue. Most of the
route is in a very pleasant riverside setting, with many other on-foot and
cycling enthusiasts.  End in the lovely riverside town of Manayunk, with
several excellent eating and drinking establishments, plus numerous
antique and other small shops.

Historic Park and the Jersey Side
Run or walk by Philadelphia’s most historic sites, including Independence
Hall, the Liberty Bell pavilion, Christ Church Burial Ground, and the
Philadelphia Mint.  See impressive views of the Delaware River and
surrounds while crossing the Benjamin Franklin suspension bridge.  See
the classic view of Center City from the Jersey side.  Pass the Adventure
Aquarium (formerly New Jersey State Aquarium).  Have a pleasant and
scenic ferry ride back to Penn’s Landing.  Good running or walking
conditions throughout and many things to do at the end.

Wissahickon Valley and Chestnut Hill
Make the big escape from city life.  This trail is mainly in a wilderness
setting, attractive and shady, following a creek through a nature reserve.
Experience mystical Forbidden Drive, which combines isolation with
excellent underfoot running conditions.  There are many historical sites on
the way, and the very pleasant township of Chestnut Hill
[map] at the end.
Wind-down there and catch a convenient train back to Center City.

Pennypack Park
Our fifth trail takes you far away from the city's crowds and traffic, into
wooded terrain with plenty of wildlife, but with a well-groomed paved walking
or running trail its entire length.  There are trains between Center City
Philadelphia and both start and finish.
